RAVPower 30W 3-Port Mains Charger with iSmart 2.0

This is my first multi port USB plug charger, and yes as sad as that sounds I was pretty excited to see how well it worked with the horde of devices we have floating around our house. Although it was only three ports, that’s two more than the plug supplied with any of our devices! Here’s where to find it: Product Link

Packaging:

As with all RavPower products, the packaging it spot on. There is no excess space wasted and everything you need is in the box. Package contents include: Instructions sheet and Wall Charger.

Build Quality

Very well made… That’s pretty much all there is to it. There are no mechanical parts. It has a very solid feel to it, even the connection between the plug and the main unit seems strong. I have tried to pry them apart, and I am guessing with some brute force and ignorance, I could probably do it. But as it is, it’s strong. This could be the travel plug I was looking for.

Design

As you can see from the images, there plug has a matt coating on the sides, I am guessing this is for the grip. Allowing you to easily insert and remove the plug from wall sockets.

The three ports at the back are illuminated by LEDs housed inside the plug. This will be very useful for when you can’t turn the lights on.

I know it’s not a travel plug, but having a plug where you can swap out the prongs would have been a nice touch, but this is not what the plug is designed for, it’s just a nice feature.

Power

The 3 ports on the plug are iSmart, each port will provide the optimum power for the device connected to it. The plug provides 30W in total. I was able to plug in my phone and found it charged as quick as the fast charger it came with (Samsung Galaxy Note 4). I have used a power tester to confirm the power coming out of one of the ports, the other two ports had two Samsung mobiles attached and charging, I was still registering 5.19V for the free port. This might be a limitation to the tester I am using, as even with nothing else plugged in, I was still only registering 5.19V. At least it’s consistent.

Conclusion

Great plug, and works really well. I think this is the only plug I will ever need to take for UK trips. This might even be the only plug I use on international trips as well. Team this up with a travel adaptor and you may have the perfect charging solution for parents on the go. I honestly cannot fault the product.

Tip: I have a number of travel batteries as well, and when at work or anywhere I have access to plug socket, I plug them all in.  The iSmart technology makes sure they all get enough power to each port to charge all the batteries you plug in!
